Stop Remaking and Ruining Classics, Disney

I'm sure many of us feel this way. A good portion of people hate the remakes Disney is doing with classic movies. Some of them I'm sure you have seen/heard of are Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Lion King (the most recent release). Now they've got the Mulan reboot coming out (as well as the hashtag #BoycottMulan), and there are plans for The Little Mermaid reboot. Disney, come on! You guys were built on new, creative ideas. Why can't you create new movies, or something different? Remaking classics, and ruining classics, isn't my idea of new or creative. Yes, Disney owns the rights to recreate their own movies, but is it really worth it if you ruin the original for so many people? Now, I could talk about all the bad things with Disney because of their Leftist ideologies. But instead, I'm going to talk about why Disney needs to stop remaking and ruining their classics. This is something that annoys me to no end.

If Walt Disney was alive today, he would be enraged to see what his vision for Disney became. Walt Disney himself said, "Money doesn't excite me, my ideas excite me." The original idea for Disney was the pursuit of new ideas to entertain children. Today, that vision has died. Now, it's only about the money. Now, I wouldn't have a problem with this if Disney was still being creative with what they were coming out with. But that's not happening. They're lazy. That's why these remakes from 20 years ago are happening. I mean, really. Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Mulan all were made in the '90s. That isn't that long ago. I can understand remakes of older movies, like Cinderella or Snow White. Disney has become complacent with remaking movies, and expecting that people will spend their money to see them. Too bad they're right! I mean, there's no creativity in the movie business if Disney could take the top spots for highest grossing movies! Don't believe me? The top 5 grossing movies (worldwide) this year were in this order (according to Business Insider):
  1. Avengers: Endgame
  2. Lion King
  3. Captain Marvel
  4. Aladdin
  5. Toy Story 4
These movies have grossed the highest for 2019, and all these were from Disney. Each were remakes/comics. The only movies to do the best were from Disney. I've seen other articles that have a different order of which movies were in the top 5 or 6, but all of them were still Disney. Now, if you do the math, each of these movies made either a little over a billion, or 2 billion. That would equal about 7.27 BILLION DOLLARS.

Now, you may think I'm being overly critical about Disney recreating the classics. I'm not. I shared a poll on my social media platforms asking if Disney should keep recreating classics. I would say 85% answered no. Now, I'm not saying EVERYONE agrees with this. But I've also read articles/reviews or seen videos other people who think like me. From what I heard, Disney's remake of Lion King was a bust. Because it was all CGI, the movie couldn't capture the emotion like the original did. I'm glad I didn't waste my money seeing it. That's my absolute favorite Disney movie. The other thing that bothers me with these remakes/comic book remakes is Disney's need to incorporate everything LGBT. Now, I've said this before, I'll say it again. I'm not against the LGBT community. What I disagree with is ruining classics like The Avengers or Beauty and the Beast with that stuff. LeFou was never gay in the original movie, yet Disney changed that. Then, of course there was the whole uproar to give Captain America a boyfriend, which was never mentioned in the comics (that I know of). The most recent is the girl from Thor Ragnarok will come out as bipolar or a lesbian. With Frozen, I know there is a lot of speculation that Elsa will get a girlfriend, or come out gay. As much as I don't agree with Disney trying to push these beliefs on a young audience, I have no problem with this! Create your own characters to push your narrative, don't use originals/classics to do that.

What I don't appreciate with these remakes is that they try to outdo the magic that surrounded their originals. Look at The Lion King. That movie changed the paradigm for Disney. This was a HUGE hit in the '90s. And why wouldn't it be? The opening scene, the music, the drama. Even the cartoon aspect of it was completely different from what was known as cartoons. What's not to love? Trying to remake it with CGI was a bad move. Nothing can touch a classic, in my opinion. It's the same with Star Wars. I'm sorry (but not sorry) for saying this: the new ones Star Wars movies suck. The originals were way better. Disney is trying to please the Left by having Rey be the lead, because women don't get enough credit. The only thing I did like from a remake was when they explained what happened to Belle's mother. But I absolutely hated Maleficent. Angelina Jolie ruined that character. And again, they tried that whole Leftist crap with Maleficent being "raped." What five year old is going to get that?! I didn't even get that until I came across it in an article. And even then, I had to watch back that scene because I still didn't get it! Although it was really cute how her daughter played young Aurora. Hey, I'm not that bad. I thought it was super adorable!

I don't care if people don't agree with me, but Disney has to stop remaking classic movies. They are ruining them. It's not just because of the politics, it's that there's nothing different from what was in the originals. We all know the story line. Changing a few things doesn't make it better! Maleficent, whose name literally means evil, became "soft" towards Sleeping Beauty. We all know in the original, she hated Aurora. How can you just change the most evil villain to a joke? Really! Look, I don't care if you agree with me or if you don't. Disney is ruining classics by remaking them. Is it really so hard to get back to your roots by coming up with creative ideas? Everyone, stop wasting your money going to these remakes. It's a ripoff. Nothing changed from the original, and in some cases, the original is ruined from the remake. That's my opinion.

So, I just wanted to mention two things:
  1. Just wanted to thank everyone who wished me a great first week of school and birthday! If you would like to know, my birthday was great! Other than the fact classes started on my birthday, but it was all good. I can tell you guys one thing. Business Finance is going to be the death of me. My other classes seem fine, just busy work. But Business Finance I'm already being told I need to start studying from this weekend. Pray I can pass the class with a good grade!
  2. Don't forget to subscribe! In case I should be kicked off social media (because they are Leftist run), now you guys have a way of keeping up with my blog! It should be on the Left side of your screen. If it's on your phone, click the button that has three lines doing down. Just a heads up, after you subscribe with your email, check your email's inbox or even your spam. You'll get a second email so you can verify your subscription. This only takes a few minutes, if not less. Thanks everyone! Have a good weekend!
