Why Celebrities Need To Stop Being Involved in Politics

When you look at celebrities, we all wish the same thing for us (some of us at least): we wish we had their money, their fame, to be them. I'm the same way. Some celebrities (e.g. actors or singers) I wish I could have the chance of meeting. What I dislike about celebrities is how they place themselves in politics. What do I mean by this? Well, look at all the Hollywood elites. Alyssa Milano, Miley Cyrus, Whoopi Goldberg, Michael Moore, Barbara Streisand, Alec Baldwin, Robert DeNiro, Samuel L. Jackson, Amy Schumer, Matt Damon, Lena Dunham, George Clooney, Ashley Judd, Madonna. What do all of these people have in common? They're all Hollywood elites; not only this, they're all Leftists. There's many others I haven't mentioned, but that would take up too much time. Now, I know it doesn't seem fair to say they shouldn't be involved in politics, as there are many ordinary men and women who get involved in politics. What my issue is that celebrities, especially Hollywood elites, tend to push their opinion down your throat. Movies, songs, you name it, they politicize it. Compared to Republican actors/singers, you don't see this as often. For this discussion, I'm going to explain why celebrities in general need to stop shoving their ideologies down their audiences' throats.

For me, the reason many singers or actors are choosing to become political is because they're has-beens. Whenever you hear about a Leftist celebrity on the news, it's never good. There's always some type of drama associated with them. So becoming political, in their mind, is being relevant. That's fine! You want to support your side, go ahead! What Leftist celebs are doing is attacking those with differing opinions. Look at Taylor Swift's new music video, all about homosexuality. I'm not condemning her exploiting the LGBT community, although I could, but I won't. What I'm condemning her on was the parts of the music videos with Christians and conservatives. First, she had them as, for lack of better words, trailer trash. That we absolutely hate those in the LGBT community. Or Miley Cyrus, licking the cake that read "ABORTION IS HEALTHCARE." Look at Selena Gomez, who is a proclaimed Christian, and sold a 1973 watch and donated the money to Planned Parenthood. That money could have been used for adoption agencies, or other charities, but no. She chose Planned Parenthood. The problem is that so many of these celebs are uneducated and don't know the truth about what they're saying. Sophie Turner said she wouldn't record movies in Georgia after the "heartbeat bill" was passed, yet she recorded Game of Thrones in Northern Ireland, where women get life sentences for having an abortion. THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN THE U.S.! But all these A-List actors/actresses won't state the facts. No, for most of these celebrities, it's all about the money and who will give them the most. Jennifer Lawrence was one who always talked down trash about Donald Trump and his supporters, but then took her comments back after her last few movies TANKED. These people don't care for what they stand for, unless they get paid.

I always find it ironic when these celebrities say they support one thing, but will contradict themselves in movies or songs. Like Shailene Woodley, an avid Trump hater, acted in Snowden, the movie about Edward Snowden who leaked classified information from the CIA. Or any star who fights for gun control and are against the wall, yet they are protected by ARMED guards and their house is protected by a fence/wall. Even those who are for socialism. These people have MILLIONS of dollars, yet they wouldn't give it away for everyone, like socialism dictates. They would be a part of the elites who lead the country, while oppressing the citizens. Like I said, these people don't have any allegiance unless money is involved. Like I said earlier, many of these people will just do these things to get attention. Ashley Judd and Madonna, two MAJOR has-beens, were some of the prominent figures at the Women's March. All they did was spew hatred and nonsense, from Madonna singing "F*** Trump!" to Ashley talking about her period and the "beauty of it." This is the only way they, and many other Leftist celebs, can stay relevant. By pandering to the one side who listens and believes that crap: the Left.

As an entertainer, your job is to ENTERTAIN. Award shows have become a playground for bashing Donald Trump. Democrat or Republican, the point of an award show is to see different people be honored, see them win awards, etc. Instead, you've got Robert DeNiro saying "F*** Donald Trump!" on stage, and everyone calls him courageous. That isn't courageous. What Chris Pratt did on the stage for an awards show (I don' remember which), saying there is a God who loves you and wants the best for you. Saying something like that in front of Hollywood elites, who live godless lives, is incredibly scary but brave. Hollywood is especially critical of Christians, which is the main religion in America! The only awards show I watch are the Country Music award shows (CMAs, ACMs). Reba McIntyre said that she won't make the show political because that's not her job, her job is to entertain. Actors and singers need to stop making every aspect of life political, and get back to their main job: entertainment.

What I would like to say is that there isn't anything wrong with saying who you support or what you support. The problem is shoving your ideas down the audience's throat. Everyone has the right to free speech. Merryl Streep took a good segment to bash Trump and liberals had no problem with this. But Joy Villa wears a "Make America Great Again" dress, and she is mocked? You can't believe one side should be able to say whatever they want, but not someone else. That's fascism, which is something the Left fights against, yet does themselves. Leftist celebs will keep stating their political opinion, over and over again, until you agree with them. You don't see this as much with Republican celebrities. They may say who they support, but never say it over and over again. Look at Sylvester Stallone. One of the biggest actors in Hollywood is considered a Republican. He said he thinks Trump is a good guy. Some stars I suspect of being Republicans, even though they haven't admitted it. I think Blake Shelton and Chris Pratt both are closeted Republicans. Milo Yiannopoulos said in Dangerous that if a celebrity doesn't give a political opinion, more than likely, they are Republican. Looking at both these mens' lives, I highly suspect this to be true. But going back to my original point, you can have a political opinion, that's guaranteed under 1A. But don't make that the main goal in life.

To conclude, celebrities need to stop being so involved in politics. At the end of the day, YOU ARE AN ENTERTAINER. Everyone, Republican or Democrat, likes to get away from the stress of politics. Songs, movies, and awards shows are the way to help us unwind and relax. Don't make it political. Entertain us! You can have a political opinion, I'm not saying you can't. However, when that becomes the main point of your career, you aren't an entertainer, but a politician. Besides, Leftist celebrities endorsing Democratic politicians NEVER WORKED. Taylor Swift endorsed Phil Bredesen, who lost to Marsha Blackburn (the first woman senator for Tennessee), which is ironic since she's a feminist and "wants the best for women!" Guess that only matters if you don't have conservative values. Beyonce and Travis Scott endorsed Beto O'Rourke, who lost to Ted Cruz. Oprah endorsed Stacey Abrams, who also lost. Niecy Nash supported Andrew Gillum, who shouldn't have been able to run with all the lawsuits against him, but still lost (thank God!) to Ron DeSantis. Now, some Democratic candidates DID win, but not as many as you think. Maybe staying out of politics would be the better move! Like I said, you are welcome to say, "I support this party and this candidate."  Again, that's fine! But don't make that the main point in life. That's not why people are interested in you. Personally, I don't care about what Sylvester Stallone thinks about Democrats (although I do love him) or what Taylor Swift thinks about Christians. That's not why I'm watching/listening to you. I can choose what and who I support without celebrity endorsements/opinions. All I would like is a good performance/movie. That's not asking for much from people whose money is made from one thing: entertainment.
